Are there regular buses from Phnompenh to Kampong Chhnang and then Kampong Chhnang to Battambang? How much the bus fare and how about the private car? Can we make stop at Kampong Chhnang for overnight?

Yes. There are public bus from Phnompenh to Kampong Chhnang and from Phnom Penh to Battambang with one way straight
But there is no connecting bus from Phnom Penh – Kampong Chnang and Kampong Chnang to Battambang. I highly recommend you should get private car from Phnom Penh to Battambang so you can take a stop at Kampong Chnang to visit something … The price for private 7 seater car from Phnom Penh to Battambang is $ 180/way.
