Getting to phu quoc island from kampot cambodia

I plan to  travel to Cambodia in December . After visiting Kampot, I will be going to Phu Quoc island. I understand there is a ferry leaving from Ha Tien.On the map, it looks nearer from Kampot. Must I go to Hat Tien to catch the ferry ? Is there any other  better way ? How easy and regular are the buses from Kampot to Ha Tien for the boat ?

Hi,
There is a minibus from Kampot (Cambodia) to Hà Tiên and onto Phu Quoc (Vietnam). This cost USD$20 and took us through the border crossing in both countries. This journey takes up to 2 hours.
