While in Laos, most of travelers mainly visit Vientiane & Luangprabang. They stay there a few days only. What a pity! Laos is a country with more places to discover and explore on a budget, you need to give yourself more than a week or two and add the following places to your must-see Laos spots list:
1. VANG VIENG:  is a place of a dreamlike landscape of bizarre limestone mountain peaks and scenic cliffs with the Nam Song (Song River) with an amazing beautiful scenery, there’s a lot of cliffs for climbing, rivers for boat/tube riding, caves to be discovered and religious place to see

2. PAKSE: is the capital of Champasak province, short day trip from Pakse can go to Ban Saphai and Don Kho, weaving centres 15km north of town so if you are nearby, take a day or two to see what Pakse is like.If you still have another day in Pakse, you could definitely use it for exploring Bolaven Plateau. It can be easily reached by motorbike. You can spend most of the time driving around Attapeu and the hill and countryside where you can see many local people and nice villages. Afterwards, let yourself drive along the good road to Tad Lo which is famous for its many waterfalls around and villages with a very charming flair.

3.SI PHAN DON (4000 ISLAND): taking relaxation to a whole new level, this is a region rich in waterfalls, paddy fields, temples and monks. It`s perfect for a chilled out pause in your Asian adventure

4. SAVANNAKHET: is known as the most traditionally Lao region in the country. Beautiful traditional villages dot the surrounding area, especially in Kengkok. Major attractions include That Ing Hang Stupa, one of the holiest structures in Laos; Vat Sayaphoum, with its renowned Pali school; That Phon Stupa; and the Khmer ruins of Heuan Hin.

5. PLAIN OF JARS” Hundreds of huge jars of unknown origin are scattered in a field near Phonesavanh. The jars, carved from solid stone, vary in shape and size. The area is home to a large Hmong community. Xieng Khouang province is also known for its trekking tours and home stays in remote minority villages.

6.KHONG ISLAND : is the most scenic section of the Mekong River, blessed with impressive rapids, including the magnificent Khone Phapheng Waterfall. Khong Island, with its lovely fishing villages, serene monasteries, and lush vegetation, offers a unique opportunity to experience the peaceful Lao way of life
