If you don’t want to miss beautiful landscapes, I suggest travelling by train and it takes about 15 hours and there is one night on the train. However, if you’re worried about the comfort and speed, going by plane is better.

• By train: paying by VISA is impossible and you must pay by Kyat. Travelling by train from Mandalay to Bagon costs 1,800 kyat (£1.50, $2) for First class seat and 1,300 kyat (£1, $1.30) for Ordinary seat. Actually, the Burmese railways don’t even have a website, so the easiest way just to buy in person when you’re there, booking opens a few days before departure or you can ask your hotel or agencies buy your ticket.
• By Plane: It does not deny that going by plane is more comfortable and faster. It just takes 30 minutes. However, you just fly to from Mandalay to Nyaung-u and then take minis bus or van to Bagan. And getting ticket is quite easy, you can book online or ask your guesthouse to buy it for you.
