My husband and I have 12 days to spare ị January for our trip. We plan to do Northern Vietnam & Laos. Ideally we would like to spend 7 days in Northern Vietnam (incl. Halong Bay and Sa pa/Mai Chau – which to do?) and then take a flight to Laos to explore the last 5 days around Luang Prabang & Vang Vieng.
My husband is interested in learning about the war memorials ,jungle and beach, whereas I am more interested in the cultural and culinary experience.
Does anyone have any ideas for an itinerary?

Hello there,
If you have 12 days in your hand and want to learn about the war memorials, jungle and beach, I suggest you should spend it for travelling to museums in Hanoi and the suburbs. You can consider the itinerary as below:
Day1: Hanoi arrival – Half day city tour
Day2: Visiting Hanoi museums: Ho Chi Minh Complex, Vietnam military history museum, Hoa Lo Prison, B52 Victory museum
Day3: Sapa – Ham Rong Mountain – Cat Cat village
Day4: Sapa hill tribe village – Night train to Hanoi
Day5: Hanoi-Halong cruise boat
Day6: Halong cruise boat
Day7: Halong-Hanoi
Day8: Hanoi – Vientiane
Day9: Vientiane- Vang Vieng
Day10: Vang Vieng- Luang Phrabang
Day11: Luang Phrabang- Pak Ou Cave – Khouangsi Waterfall – Luang Prabang
Day12: Luang Phrabang departure
