Many people still mistake Koh Rong Samloem Island and Koh Rong Island as one, in fact, these “two brothers” are only nearly identical in name.

Compared to the size and bustle, Koh Rong is much better, but compared to “sharp beauty”, Koh Rong is hardly comparable to Koh Rong Samloem, and the cost of this more beautiful island is also much higher. The ship that runs out to these two islands is the same, except the departure time – arrival time. If you want to visit both islands, there is always a train running between the two islands.

Koh Rong Samloem Island is a small island without a residential area, only resorts for tourist resorts built and managed by foreigners. It can be said that the island is almost separated from the outside world, a distance of nearly 3 hours by train. Possessing a long beach, smooth sandy beaches, clear blue sea, gentle waves, Koh Rong Samloem is a paradise for those who love peace. Here, you can only go swimming, reading books, diving to see fish and corals, or relaxing on the rows of chairs, swings, tree houses, hammocks at the beach … If you are the active type, you want to find a bustling entertainment spot, Koh Rong Samloem maybe is not for you.
If you come to Koh Rong Samloem Island on the full moon day of each month, you will be able to participate in Fullmoon Party with many exciting activities taking place throughout the night. If you like to party or celebrate, don’t miss this occasion.
Before going to Koh Rong Samloem paradise, you have to “transit” in the coastal city of Sihanoukville, where is called “paradise of the world” with beautiful beaches and many islands still retain natural beauty. Then from Sihanoukville, you take the train to Koh Rong Samloem, if you choose the party boat of The Beach Island Resort takes about 2.5 hours with a round trip ticket of about 20 USD / person. The party boat has a buffet restaurant and stops for about half an hour for visitors to swim, dive on the beach … Only one trip per day is at 9:30 and returns at 15:30. If you choose the Speed ferry train, run faster, when going about 45 minutes, about 1 hour, the return ticket price is 20 USD / person. Speed ferry ships also visit Koh Rong island.
Up to 2019, from Sihanoukville to Koh Rong Island, there are 5 modern, comfortable, high-speed trains with life jackets, comfortable seats and buffet food including: Speed Ferry Cambodia (SFC), Island Speed Boat Cambodia (ISBC), Buva Sea (BS), Angkor Speed Ferry (ASF), and GTVC. These five carriers all depart from Ochheuteal (AKA ‘Serendipity’) station in Sihanoukville and the price for the round trip is $ 25, prices may vary depending on the peak tourist seasons of the year. On Koh Rong Island, the ship will park in Koh Touch tourist area and on Koh Rong Samloem Island, the ship will park in Saracen Bay, both of which are the center of the islands, where most hotels and resorts are concentrated.
Besides, you can also find normal trains from Sihanoukville to Koh Rong Island with a longer time of about 1.5 to 2.5 hours and prices from $ 5 (~ 110,000 VND) to $ 10 (~ 235,000 VND). This is not a professional transportation service, quite time consuming and hardly recommended by tourists.

What is fun about Koh Rong Island?
Lonely beach, Lazy beach,
Lonely Beach, located on the North of Koh Rong Island, is the most beautiful beach voted in 2019, although the geographical position is not the most favorable. This beach is characterized by small cliffs, fine white sand, rows of green palm trees and clear sea water, reflecting the sky.
Lonely beach is a very simple travel journey, for those who really want to be separated from the outside world, simply immersed in the natural flow. If you are looking for high-class and comfortable travel services, then this is probably not the case. From Koh Rong Island to Loney beach you will have to rent small boats of the locals or from Sihanoukville can take from 2 to 3 hours. The price for a night at this beach ranges from $ 40 (~ 928,000 VND) to $ 50 (1,160,000 VND).
