A piece of advise is highly appreciated. We want to visit Laos and then overland crossing to Myanmar border . Is it possible to get across that border ? How long the trip from Luangprabang to the border and then to Tachileik?

Hi Gill Hsieh,
First of all you can look at this map. So you can see that there’s no way to border cross from Laos to Myanmar although they have plan to make one in 2015.
So if you have plan to travel Tachileik, you should cross from there. Remember that when travelling over land to Myanmar, you must always obtain your visa beforehand; it is not currently possible to get Myanmar visas at the border and e-visas are not valid.
From Luangprabang tp Tachilake, you will have to go by taxi which takes you 2 hours to Huay Xai (115km), then go to Luangprabang by ferry which takes you 7 hours. And the ferry just work once a day.
